Sarah Wagner
Beneath the great sky of this nowhere place
Somewhere between beauty and bleakness
Midway to both solace and solitude
Under trees, under stars, under the moon
Where falcons cry undaunted
Where wildlife is still truly wild
There stands a house on a pond
Forgotten and abandoned
Its walls yellowed and graying
Its floors warped and uneven
Time has taken its toll on this home
Wilderness encroaching on its edges
Mother Earth taking back what is hers.
