He

Kate Hill

He emerges,
a shadow slipping
from midnight water,
to sprawl naked
on a moss-covered log
and worship the moon
with slanted jade eyes.

He stretches,
sinewy limbs taut,
supple body glistening
in the humid jungle air,
as his clawed fingers
reach toward the stars
beyond his grasp.

He growls,
a sensual sound
deep in his throat,
while he blinks,
lazily,
dreamily.

Sharp nails retract
into warm, human
hands.
Incisors hide
behind tender lips
which smile
slightly,
sadly,
as he wishes
and desires
and waits
alone.
