Dream Walker

Sherra Gray

pre-dawn purple
stealing through eyes
not yet awake
not quite asleep
dream haze and day
mingle

you are there
in the waving umber
fire eyes burning promises
into the subconscious of my soul...
there in the turning of night

in dreams you come
to stir dormant passions
in cold embers
you come as whispers
carried on soft
honeysuckled wind ~
sweet and fragrant

in the candle's glow
of rising sun
you reach your hand for me
but I have slumbered too long
counting wheat stalks
with impatience

blinking into dawn
I turn sadly away...
your fading countenance
a testament to my hesitation
Oh, night ~ stay!
Dreamwalker ~
return....
